We have been shortlisted for a trio of projects in the Pitched Roofing Awards, which celebrate excellence in pitched roofing design.

Now in their fifth year and founded by Roofing, Cladding & Insulation (RCI) magazine, the awards celebrate the achievements of roofing contractors, materials manufacturers and suppliers who demonstrate technical ability and quality of work in the roofing industry.

We will join others from the industry for the awards night in Manchester on 25 November, where three projects will be up for awards.

We have been shortlisted for Best Use of Concrete and Clay Tiles for a Domestic Project, together with Lakin Builders, for Spinney Cottage, a new build development in the sough-after Worsley part of Manchester.

Lakin Builders worked closely with the homeowner to select our Humber Plain tile in Tuscan, complete with clay ridge tiles and bonnets hips, ensuring the roof is a major feature of the exclusive home.

Also recognised for Best Use of Concrete and Clay Tiles for a Domestic Project is Sealfield House, a project from Emerton Roofing and wienerberger in Prestbury, Cheshire.

The brand’s Sandtoft Humber Tuscan plain tiles were selected, including suitable arris hip and ridge tiles, and used to replace existing brown handmade clay tiles on the vast roof. With details such as an Eyebrow dormer, distinctive hipped roof slopes and a bespoke stepped chimney, this project required particular skill, care and determination.

We have been shortlisted under our Keymer Tiles brand for Best Use of a Heritage Roof at Jane Austen’s House, alongside Clarke Roofing Southern.

Keymer handmade Kent Peg tiles were used in a mix of 90% Antique and 10% Elizabethan, offering a natural replacement to match the existing Kent Pegs on the Grade I listed property in Hampshire, which is now a museum dedicated to the author’s life. Keymer Kent Pegs have been made using Weald Clay in the South of England since 1588, using true handmade methods.

Gary Smith, Director of Sales for Roof at wienerberger said “it’s always fantastic to receive recognition from the industry in this way and we’re excited to be shortlisted for three awards alongside the contractors who made these projects possible. We are also sponsoring the “Best use of concrete and clay tiles for a domestic project” award on the night, which will bring together the best of the roofing industry to recognize quality and excellence.”
