In recent weeks, we’ve seen more and more of our colleagues, customers and suppliers head back to work. This acceleration back to the ‘new normal’ has been particularly prevalent within the roofing sector. Roofing Merchants across the nation have re-opened their doors and this has been reflected from our busy factories, to the uplift in technical enquires and our Area Sales Managers who have become very familiar with the array of conference calling applications available. We know navigating the day to day isn’t easy right now, so we want to thank you for your custom. We wouldn’t be back to the ‘new normal’ without you.   

At Wienerberger, no one has gone above and beyond at this challenging time like our customer support team. Since the lockdown began in March our committed colleagues at Sandtoft have answered 27,825 of your calls, totalling over  883 hours of open communication to support our customers. With the full department now back to work, many with 20 or even over 30 years’ service in the business, you’re sure to see some familiar faces.  Let us reacquaint you with some of our dedicated team of customer support advisors:

Sam, Head of Customer Support

Cheadle and Sandtoft Office, 18 years 

I started working with the company in 2002 as an advisor at Sandtoft, within 3 years I became a Customer Support Team Leader and moved into the position of Customer Support Manager later that year in 2005. In 2018 I became the Head of Customer Support for the UK working across our full product portfolio; brick, clay block, landscaping, façade, and roof tile.

My fundamental goal is to bring the two head office departments, based in Cheadle and Doncaster together so we can help customers no matter which Customer Support team the call comes into.

We are now a member of the Institute of Customer Service and the department is working towards accreditation. We are working with partners to move more onto electronic ordering such as EDI or order recognition

Melanie, Senior Customer Support Advisor

Sandtoft Office, 39 years 

Over the years I’ve worked across a range of departments:  Wages and Accounts, Dispatch. Approximately 15 years ago I joined the Customer Support team and I am now the ‘Oracle’ for the department, as anyone that wants to know anything always asks me.

My family have a long history with Sandtoft, my Mum, Dad, and brother have also worked for the company; I think the only member of our family who hasn’t worked for Sandtoft is the dog.

I deal with South and West Yorkshire plus all of Norfolk and Suffolk, I strive to help all my customers and I have a very good relationship with them. I check orders that come through and make sure the prices are correct, I will also phone and make the customers aware of any problems with their orders and advise on technical issues and complaints.

Hopefully, I will still be here when it comes to retirement and then I may have a bench donated in my honour. 

Caroline, Customer Support Advisor

Sandtoft Office, 5 years

My name is Caroline Beresford and I joined Wienerberger in June 2015 as a Customer Support Adviser. I support two Area Managers who cover Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex, East Sussex, and Kent.

My main responsibilities are to ensure that orders placed are correctly priced and the customer has ordered the correct materials.  I have regular technical training as there are hundreds of fittings and accessories that I need to be familiar with, so I can help customers with their orders. I also check stock levels, give pricing, and organise samples for customers.  

I love dealing with my customers, I am a very sociable person and really enjoy building relationships. 

I am a very active person and regularly take part in organised sports. I have done several half marathons and I am currently taking open-water-swimming training which I am really enjoying!
