Community Liaison Meetings

Find information and the latest updates for the Community Liaison Committee near you

A Community Liaison Committee (CLC) is a gathering of residents, councillors, council regulators and staff at wienerberger. Members come together two to three times per year to discuss the interaction of Wienerberger’s operations with the local community. Each CLC operates according to an agreed Terms of Reference, and wienerberger provides secretarial services and light refreshments for the meetings. Discussions at the CLC meetings span a variety of issues and can include everything from supporting community groups and local events, to environmental monitoring and operational updates. Members can recommend topics for the agenda according to their interests.

In between the CLC meetings, members are encouraged to share points of interest with their neighbours and the broader community through whichever channels are accessible to them. These conversations help residents understand more about wienerberger’s operations in their local area and in turn the feedback provided to wienerberger helps the company to positively contribute to the local community and swiftly address any concerns if they arise.

Updates for active Community Liaison Committees are provided below. If your local factory is not listed here but you are interested in engaging with wienerberger, please contact us.

  • The brickworks have been working hard to ensure that the “one way system” for the lorries is understood and adhered to. As a consequence there has only been one complaint by residents over the last six months (up from nil the previous six months)
  • Over 150 people attended the Heritage Open Day in September and it was deemed an excellent event
  • There had been some risk of a one off increase of 100 lorries transporting additional materials for storage at the site. This has now disappeared as the materials will be stored at a different site.
  • The brickworks may enter into an agreement with a developer to seek to obtain planning permission for a small number of houses on the disused old Ewhurst Brickworks site. This is a long term project but we will obviously be monitoring it.
  • The brickworks has offered to assist in training local residents in the use of defibrillators and CPR. They have to provide this training for their own purposes and have offered to extend this to interested local residents. Once dates have been agreed I will circulate details.
